Phoenix Marketcity, a high-end shopping complex in Mumbai partnered with Broadway Malyan, a global urban design firm, to recreate the shopping experience through interior refurbishment. The concept followed a storyboard to recreate 'the rebirth of a phoenix'. Taking cues and ideas from the logo design of the shopping complex the team devised a storyboard through the use of colors and textures.

CONCEPT AND IDEA GENERATION
The concept came about from the name PHOENIX + MARKET + CITY. The mall plan created a loop, making people walk in a circle, back to the start. The mall also had 'malls' or straight walkways (markets) connecting the various atriums. This gave an idea of rebirth (Phoenix) , which was shown through appropriate colors in the 'malls' (markets) and atriums being the destinations (city). Along with adding colors to depict the rebirth, we wanted to introduce elements that would enhance the idea of that area while connecting the horizontal with the vertical. We introduced seating elements that would be a part of the lowermost floor while making connections with the floors above. These were added with kiosks for making the design flow from one 'destination' (atrium) to another.
